CME Webinar: Transgender Umbrella and the Therapies & Treatments Involved

6-8PM Central Time

11 May, 2023

Presented by Dr. Gwendolyn Herzig & Mr. Hunter Wayland

“We all have a role to play in creating a more inclusive world. By empowering professionals to provide affirming care, we can help make that world a reality.”

Supporting LGBTQ+ enrichment, assistance, and access to quality care.

Stigmatization of the LGBTQ+ population is especially problematic in southern and rural areas of the United States. It is here we find the general public, businesses, and even providers of LGBTQ+ related health services have been slow to educate themselves to accommodate this community without misgendering, demeaning, and endangering individuals. In fact, three southern states, including Arkansas, have been targets of an unprecedented, multi-million dollar effort by the Human Rights Campaign to create changes towards equality due to complete lack of nondiscrimination protections for the LGBTQ+ community in numerous basic areas, many of which involve public health.

Accountability matters.

The Prism Foundation is committed to making sure you know exactly how our resources are being allocated. Follow the link for a more robust breakdown of our impact in the community.

Access to care.

Cost should never be a barrier for patients who feel it would be beneficial to start or continue hormone replacement therapy (HRT) or HIV prevention medication. That’s why we established an assistance program to completely cover the out of pocket costs of those medications at any participating pharmacy. Follow the link for more information.

Mentorship program.

Our goal is to launch a peer mentorship program for transgender, non-binary, and broadly gender non-conforming youth between the ages of 12 and 22, utilizing mentors between 18 and 34 years old from the same population.

Community support.

We are striving towards the establishment of a community center to serve as a safe space and central hub for program offerings, including legal aid (name change), clothing exchange, basic needs (food/water), and education programs.

“I can’t begin to express how remarkable it feels to finally love who I am enough to pursue my authentic self.”
